According to official data, since the inception of the program, more than 12.3 crore meals have been provided to beneficiaries.

To sustain the scheme, GHMC has so far spent ₹254 crore, ensuring meals remain accessible at just ₹5 per plate.

Hyderabad: More Canteens Planned in Jubilee Hills Constituency:

Officials confirmed that 12 more canteens are ready for launch, including four in the Jubilee Hills Constituency. This expansion is expected to further increase the reach of the scheme and reduce the burden on existing canteens, many of which serve hundreds of meals daily.

The GHMC has also adjusted its subsidy structure to meet rising costs. From March 2025, the corporation’s contribution per plate was revised from ₹27.63 to ₹29.83. Despite the increased subsidy, the public continues to pay only ₹5 for each meal, while the government covers the rest of the expense.

GHMC Seeks Budget for Breakfast Inclusion:

Looking ahead, GHMC has proposed expanding the scheme to include breakfast. An additional annual budget of ₹12.60 crore will be required for this inclusion, and a letter has already been sent to the state government seeking financial sanction.
