Hyderabad: Two Youngsters Drowned In Water Outskirts
Hyderabad: Two youngsters, both aged in their mid-twenties, drowned in a quarry that was full of rainwater at Kothwalguda in Shamshabad on the city outskirts here on Thursday.
Police said the two were suspected to have gone sightseeing and fell into the pit.
The two were identified as Mallesh (24) and Jai Krishna (25), both construction workers and residents of Shivarampally in Rajendranagar in Ranga Reddy district.
They had come for work at a construction site at Kothwalguda and had gone to the nearby quarry that was filled with water after the heavy downpour on Wednesday.
According to the police, the young men were suspected to have gone to the quarry to click pictures and slipped and fell into the pit.
“It is yet to be known if both fell together or one of them fell first and the other drowned while trying to rescue the first one,” police said.
On being alerted by local villagers, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police reached the spot and retrieved the bodies with the help of swimmers. A case has been booked while the bodies were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
