I Resigned From My Post When I Was Arrested: Amit Shah
Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 20 (Maxim News): A key development took place in the Lok Sabha as part of the monsoon session of Parliament. Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three key bills in the Lok Sabha – the 130th Constitution amendment Bill, the Union Territories Governments Amendment Bill, and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Amendment Bill. Later, the bills were sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. On this occasion, the Lok Sabha was abuzz with opposition concerns.
The opposition parties opposed the bill introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to revoke the posts of leaders who have served 30 days in jail. The opposition MPs tore up copies of the bill, alleging that it could lead to political abuse. The Speaker adjourned the House till 3 pm.
Before the adjournment, Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill to check the tenure of public representatives who are arrested and sent to jail in serious criminal cases. At that time, opposition MPs said that Amit Shah was arrested when he was the Home Minister of Gujarat.
“Yes, I was arrested on false charges. I resigned from my post morally even when I was arrested,” Amit Shah told opposition MPs. (Maxim News)
