Illegal Mining Crackdown | Hyderabad, May 5 (Maxim News): Illegal mining crackdown gains momentum as HYDRA carries out coordinated operations across six locations in Hyderabad on Tuesday. As a result, officials dismantled several unauthorized mining and industrial units after receiving multiple complaints.
Earlier, the Telangana Pollution Control Board, along with mining and revenue departments, flagged these violations. Therefore, authorities moved quickly and initiated strict action against units running without approvals.
Illegal mining crackdown expands across Hyderabad region
Meanwhile, HYDRA teams conducted raids in parts of Rangareddy district, including Gandipet mandal, Serilingampally, and Shamshabad. In addition, officials targeted Vattinagulapally, Gowlidoddi, and Kotwalguda villages during the operation.
During the raids, authorities demolished six stone crushing units. At the same time, they removed 12 ready mix concrete plants operating without permissions. Moreover, teams cleared heavy machinery to stop further illegal use of the sites.

As a consequence, officials said illegal quarrying had caused serious environmental harm. For instance, continuous dust emissions reduced air quality in nearby residential areas. Furthermore, blasting activities increased risks to houses and local infrastructure.
However, authorities noted that several large firms operated these units despite repeated warnings. Therefore, the district administration stepped in and requested immediate enforcement action.
In addition, officials found that these units caused heavy losses to government revenue. Many operators failed to pay electricity bills. Even then, some continued operations using diesel generators after power disconnection.
Subsequently, the HYDRAA ensured that all illegal setups were dismantled. Officials also stressed that no further activity will be allowed at these locations.
Meanwhile, local residents welcomed the action. They said pollution had affected their daily life for months. As a result, the crackdown is expected to improve environmental conditions.
Finally, authorities confirmed that strict monitoring will continue. They also urged citizens to report illegal mining activities to prevent future violations.
