Illegal PDS Rice Transportation Busted in Khairatabad

Hyderabad, Nov 5: The Khairatabad Police, under the supervision of the Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police, successfully busted an illegal operation involving the transportation and storage of PDS (Public Distribution System) rice.

The action was part of a special drive conducted at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday by the DCP Central Zone Team in coordination with the Khairatabad Local Police.

During the operation, one person identified as Md. Azar, aged 24 and a resident of BJR Nagar, Khairatabad, was apprehended while transporting PDS rice illegally on a two-wheeler bearing registration number TS09FV3081.

Police said the accused had procured the rice from PDS beneficiaries and was en route to deliver it to his associate Abdul Rahman, who also resides in BJR Nagar.

According to police reports, when Azar reached Abdul Rahman’s residence and began unloading the rice, the Central Zone team, acting on credible information, conducted a swift raid and detained him.

A thorough search of the premises revealed 27 plastic bags containing approximately 1,000 kilograms (10 quintals) of PDS rice illegally stored inside the house.

The seized rice and vehicle were taken into custody, and a case has been registered for further investigation.

Police said efforts are underway to identify other individuals possibly involved in the illegal diversion of subsidized food grains meant for the public.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on the black-market trade of essential commodities and have urged citizens to report any suspicious storage or transportation of PDS goods.
