IMD Warns of Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall in Telangana in the Next 3 Hours

Hyderabad, July 23, 2025 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Meteorological Department has issued a fresh alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad city, in the next three hours.

According to IMD officials, the rain activity is being triggered by active surface circulations over the region. The department has accordingly issued yellow, orange, and red alerts for various districts based on the expected intensity of rainfall.

District-wise Alerts:

  • Red Alert: Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Peddapalli districts are expected to witness very heavy rainfall, prompting a red alert.
  • Orange Alert: Moderate to heavy showers are also likely in Nizamabad, Jagtial, and Bhadradri Kothagudem, where orange alerts have been issued.
  • Yellow Alert: Several other districts are under yellow alert indicating the potential for isolated heavy downpours.

The IMD has advised residents in the affected areas to remain indoors, avoid travel unless necessary, and stay updated through official weather bulletins.

Emergency teams have been alerted, and local administrations are on standby to respond to potential flood-like situations, especially in low-lying and urban flood-prone areas of Hyderabad.
