Hyderabad, Jan. 26 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao desired Palle Pragathi program aimed at making villages clean and green should be implemented perfectly. He said sanitation works should be done in the villages daily without fail. The Chief Minister said he would undertake surprise visits very soon to review how the Palle Pragathi works are being done and how the officials and people’s representatives were doing their jobs? He wanted the officials and public representatives to actually do their duties and not confine themselves to take a photo shoot. With inspiration drawn from the Palle Pragathi program, Pattana (town) Pragathi program will be launched shortly.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting on Palle Pragathi program here on Sunday at Pragati Bhavan. Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, A Indrakaran Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, Government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary Forests Rajiv Tiwari, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Raghunandan Rao, PCCF Shobha, CMO secretary Smita Sabharwal, Special Secretary Bhoopal Reddy, OSD Priyanka Varghese and others were present.
The Chief Minister said, “People either live in the villages or in towns. If both these places are good everything will be good. Hence, the government wanted villages and towns should be good. Initially, we have started Palle Pragathi program. We have filled all the vacancies in the Panchayat Raj department. We have appointed village Secretary in all the villages. We have hiked the salaries of the Panchayat Raj employees. Every month we are releasing Rs 339 crore without fail. We have made one tractor available in every village. When the government was giving so much support and encouragement, our villages and towns should be good. The Villages and towns should be improved come what may. We have created Plant Nurseries in all the villages. Make it compulsory to plant and grow trees at every place and in all the villages.”
The Chief Minister said, “Clean the roads every day and keep the villages clean and tidy. Clean the drainages. It is not enough to do these works for some days and forget about them later. Every day the assigned works should be done in every village,” the Chief Minister said.
“Certain Ministers, Collectors, public representatives giving poses to the photo shoot in media claiming that they are cleaning the villages as part of Palle Pragathi program for publicity sake. This is not correct. They are not there to clean the villages with a broomstick. They are there to ensure work assigned is done properly. We have recruited the required staff in Gram Panchayats. We have hiked the salaries. Tractors are there. Use the Tractors and make the employees work. But don’t do things for namesake. Find out how works related to clean and green in the villages are going on. What progress the village is making? Do all the concerned discharging their duties properly? To find out these things I will make surprise visits to the villages,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to take measures to ensure that Hyderabad and other cities should not turn into pollution ridden cities and take action to protect the environment. The CM wanted that both inside and outside the city and on the forestlands plants should grow turning the area into a thick forest. “Hyderabad city is growing rapidly and the population is increasing by several fold. Our city has no seashore. Chances are more for the pollution. If we neglect now Hyderabad will become like other cities, which are suffering with acute pollution and will make people’s life as hell. To counter this environment protection measures should be taken.
There is about 1.60 Lakh hectares of forestland available inside and outside of Hyderabad. Grow trees in large numbers on these lands. Make them dense forest. This will keep temperatures low and control pollution. Plant trees in large numbers in the city too. 10 per cent of the GHMC and HMDA Budget funds should be utilised for this for increasing the green cover. Prepare Haritha Plans for other cities and towns too. In all the towns create one nursery per ward. All the towns and cities in Telangana State should be resplendent with greenery as part of the measures taken under Pattana Pragathi,” the Chief Minister said.(Maxim News)
