Include Secretariat mosques issue in minorities’ meeting agenda: Congress
Hyderabad, August 26 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Thursday demanded that the issue of re-construction of two Secretariat mosques, illegally demolished by the TRS Government in July 2020, should be included in the agenda of the meeting proposed to be held by Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar on August 28.
Abdullah Sohail said that the State Government has issued a circular informing that the Welfare Minister would conduct a review meeting at the Directorate of Minorities Welfare in Hyderabad on August 28 to discuss various issues, mostly pertaining to Wakf affairs. However, the agenda does not include the most important subject of the re-construction of Secretariat mosques. “Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao cheated the Muslim community by giving different deadlines for laying the foundation stone for reconstruction. He did not honour his commitment which includes the assurance given in the Legislative Assembly. Later, Home Minister Mahmood Ali came into the picture and he gave deadlines for commencement of reconstruction.
Wakf Board chairman & Secretariat mosques:
Now he vanished from the scene and TRS Govt is using Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem to cheat the Muslims. The Wakf Board held two meetings to announce that the design of new mosques has been approved,” he alleged.
The Congress leader said that the agenda for the meeting of Welfare Minister includes discussion on the development of Jahangir Peeran Dargah; Renovation of Mecca Masjid; Construction of Anees Ul Gurba; Construction of Mannan (Sathram) in Ajmer, Rajasthan and construction of Pahadishareef CC Ramp to Baba Sharfuddin Dargah; Development of Moulali Dargah and construction of Christian Bhavan. “The non-inclusion of Secretariat mosques in the agenda clearly show that the TRS Govt is not serious in their reconstruction. It is just dragging the issue no one pretext or the other so as to facilitate the construction of the new Secretariat building. The Muslim community has now realized that it is being cheated and misled by the TRS leadership,” he said.
Abdullah Sohail alleged that the TRS leaders were acting like an organised gang to cheat the minorities. He pointed out that the Home Minister has convened a meeting today (August 26) to discuss the minorities’ issues and implementation of schemes. Two days, later Welfare Minister is holding a meeting with a different agenda. A day earlier, the Wakf Board chairman held a meeting on almost similar issues. They are just trying to capture the news space so as to divert the attention of minorities from their failures, he said.
The Congress leader demanded that the Chief Minister conduct a review meeting to discuss the issues of Secretariat mosques, scholarships for students, jobs and loans for jobless youth of minority communities. He said that the development of minorities has come to a standstill due to the non-release of sanctioned funds. (Maxim News)
