India Celebrates its 77th Army day in Pune
On Wednesday, January 15, India observed its 77th Army day in Pune. Army Day is commemorated to mark the day in 1949 when General K.M. Cariappa became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, taking over from the last British Commander-in-Chief, General Sir Francis Robert Roy Bucher. This historic transition symbolized the end of British colonial rule and the beginning of India’s independent military leadership. Celebrations and Events Across the Country
On Army Day 2025, the celebrations will be observed with a blend of solemnity and grandeur. Several robotic dogs, also known as Multi Utility Legged Equipment (MUEL) were showcased at the Southern Command Investiture Ceremony at BEG and Centre Parade ground in Khadki, Pune.
