India Defence Production Hits Record Rs 1.78 Lakh Crore

New Delhi, July 4: India annual defence production reached a record Rs 1.78 lakh crore in FY 2025 26, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday. He said the figure is three times higher than FY 2014 15.

Defence exports also crossed Rs 38,000 crore. That is up from Rs 686 crore in FY 2013 14. Singh said this shows growing global trust in Make in India.

Make in India gains pace

Singh said India has moved from shortage to self reliance. He added that the country is now moving toward Viksit Bharat. He also said the world now listens more closely to India.

He said India made its own semiconductor chips last year. He linked that to the semiconductor mission launched in 2021. Singh also cited growth in mobile manufacturing, automobile exports, locomotives, and digital infrastructure.

He said UPI handled 22.35 billion transactions in April, worth Rs 29 lakh crore. He added that India’s Make in India 5G rollout is expanding nationwide. He also said work is under way on 6G.

Singh said GST has become a model of cooperative federalism. He added that it has improved coordination between the Centre and states and Union territories.
