The Indian Coast Guard seized a Pakistani fishing boat and detained 11 crew members after the vessel entered Indian waters in violation of maritime rules. Officials confirmed the action on Thursday and said the team acted quickly to stop the illegal entry. They also said the detainees were handed over to the Jakhau Marine Police in Gujarat for further investigation.

Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari said in a post on X that the Coast Guard “apprehended a Pakistani fishing boat with 11 crew inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)”. He stated that the interdiction showed the strength of ongoing maritime operations. He added that India remained committed to securing its sea borders and enforcing international laws within the Maritime Zones of India.

Meanwhile, Tiwari said, “Continuous vigilance across India’s maritime domain remains a cornerstone of our national maritime security strategy.” His remarks reflected the Coast Guard’s continued efforts to monitor the seas. The ICG also issued its own confirmation of the interception and underlined the importance of strict surveillance.

The Coast Guard said, “The Indian Coast Guard intercepted and apprehended a Pakistani fishing vessel along with 11 crew operating illegally inside Indian waters. This decisive action reflects the unwavering vigilance of the ICG and India’s firm resolve to protect its maritime frontiers and uphold international maritime law within the MZI. Relentless surveillance and proactive operation remain the bedrock of our maritime security strategy.”

The handover of the detainees marked the next stage of investigation. Officials did not share additional details about the purpose of the boat’s entry. However, the action again showed the Coast Guard’s focus on border security and its readiness to respond to violations at sea.
