Indian Railways Changed Name Of Aurangabad Railway Station To Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Station

Chhatrapati Sambhaji nagar/Hyderabad, Oct 26 (Maxim News): Indian Railways has changed the name of another railway station.  The Central Railway has decided to change the name of Aurangabad Railway Station in Maharashtra to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Station.

Three years after changing the name of Aurangabad city, the Central Railway has officially changed the name of Aurangabad Railway Station to ‘Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Railway Station. The code for this new station is ‘CPSN’, the Central Railway has revealed in a statement.

This Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar railway station comes under the nanded division of South Central Railway.  The BJP-led Mahayuti government recently issued a gazette notification regarding the renaming of Aurangabad Railway Station.  In 2023, the then government led by Eknath Shinde officially changed the name of Aurangabad city to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.  The name of the city was changed as a tribute to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Railway officials have completed the name change process online as well, following the latest government orders, Aurangabad Railway Station was built in 1900 during the reign of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is a popular tourist destination.  The azrea is home to many historical monuments including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves.  (Maxim News)
