Experts Urge Caution, Not Panic
Medical professionals and public health experts have emphasized that the current increase is largely due to Omicron subvariants, which primarily impact the upper respiratory tract and are less likely to cause severe illness compared to earlier COVID-19 waves.
“While the case count is going up, hospitalizations remain low. There’s no need to panic, but we must remain alert, especially the elderly and immunocompromised,” said a senior health official.
Government Measures and Public Advisory
The Union Health Ministry is closely monitoring the situation and urging state governments to remain prepared. Citizens are advised to:
- Maintain hygiene and avoid crowded spaces
- Stay updated on vaccination boosters
- Monitor symptoms and seek early medical advice if unwell
Although the situation is far from a major outbreak, the rise in daily numbers and fatalities has rekindled memories of past surges, urging both the public and authorities to adopt a proactive approach.
