Hyderabad, July 20: Telangana Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday announced that applications for flats under the Indiramma Housing Scheme in the CURE project will be accepted from July 21 to August 10. Applicants must pay a refundable token amount of Rs 10,000 while submitting their applications.
People can apply through Mee Seva centres, WhatsApp, or the official website. The minister said beneficiaries will be selected through a transparent draw system. He added that applicants who are not selected will receive a full refund of the token amount.
Indiramma Housing Scheme Prioritises Homeless Families
Ponguleti said priority in the first phase will be given to families without a house or land within the CURE limits. The government will register the land in the beneficiary’s name and provide Rs 5 lakh as financial assistance for house construction.
He said beneficiaries will not be allowed to sell or rent the allotted houses for 10 years. Only one member from each family can apply.
The minister said the first phase will cover 16 Assembly constituencies, with similar projects planned for the remaining constituencies later. He stated that house allotments will be made without considering political affiliation.
According to him, nearly two lakh Indiramma houses are under construction across Telangana, while seven lakh houses have already been sanctioned in two phases. He said previous allocations mainly benefited people who already owned land, whereas the new scheme targets homeless families.
Ponguleti said the government has identified sites in 16 constituencies and will construct 7,680 flats in the first phase. He added that each flat will have a built-up area of 528 square feet.
He also criticised the previous BRS government, alleging that houses constructed during its tenure were located far from the city and remained unoccupied due to poor planning. He said the Congress government is developing housing projects in prime urban locations to benefit economically weaker families.
Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the government’s objective is to create a slum-free Telangana. He said valuable government land in Hyderabad is being allocated for housing the poor and assured that reservations would be implemented in the allotment process.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government had revived the Housing Department after it was neglected by the previous administration. He expressed confidence that the first phase of the project would be completed by the next Bonalu festival.
