Industry Needs Safety Or Insurance: Jayesh Ranjan

Hyderabad, Oct.31 (Maxim News): Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in association with the Telangana government and IPO, India, organized the 9th edition of “MIPCON 2018: Conference Managing Intellectual Property with theme “Accelerating Innovation & Entrepreneurship by Managing IP Creation in era of AI” today

The conference was inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Department of ITEC & Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana. Jayesh released Release of Study ‘Potential Socio-Economic Benefits of Geographical Indications (GI) – The Indian Scenario’ by Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept of Industries & Commerce (I&C) & IT, GoTS.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh Ranjan said the need of the hour was to look IP in a holistic way. He mentioned that T-Hub and State Innovation Cell has been mandated to assist Startup in IPR Services.

Dr Rakesh K Mishra, Director, CSIR-Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, said research was entering in a phase in which lot of opportunities will be coming up. And industry needs some safety or insurance to make sure that investment being made in research is protected by way of IP. There is potential for industries in the healthcare sector.

Sanjay Singh, Chairman, CII Telangana & Divisional Chief Executive, ITC Ltd. – PSPD, said Innovation was playing a major role in generating more number of IPs in this digital era. The emergence of new digital frontiers, such as Artificial Intelligence or AI will have a profound impact on the way we create new products and services. The broad use of AI technologies will have disruptive effects on traditional business models and will force a re-consideration of the Intellectual Property (IP) framework.

J L N Murthy, Regional Centre Incharge & Secretary, ICADR, Regional Centre, Hyderabad, informed participants on the activities and achievements of ICADR Regional Center. Dr Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director, Vishnu Educational Society, stressed on taking advantage of expired patents by MSMEs and coming up with good business model for their sustainability. Ravi Sankar, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs, IPO, India highlighted the achievement of IPO, India to grant of Patent. D Raju, Vice-Chairman, CII Telangana & CEO & Managing Director, Kirby Building Systems India also spoke. (Maxim News)
