- Tragedy at Baghlingampally exam centre in Hyderabad
- Student unions seek action over college exam conduct
A tragic incident shocked Hyderabad after an intermediate student died of a heart attack while writing an examination at a college in the city. The incident occurred in the Baghlingampally area and has raised serious concerns among students and parents about exam stress and college management practices.
KVS Pranav Rai Sai, aged 17, collapsed during a slip test while writing his exam at a corporate college located in Bagh Amberpet. He was the son of Srinivas and Swathi and lived in Ramnagar, Hyderabad. On Friday morning, his father dropped him near Srinivas College at around 8.30 am so that he could attend the test. Later, while writing the exam, Pranav suddenly suffered a heart attack and fell unconscious inside the examination hall.
Teachers present at the centre noticed the situation and immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors there declared that Pranav had already died. The sudden death of the inter student left fellow students, teachers, and family members in deep shock. Meanwhile, news of the incident spread quickly, drawing attention from student groups and the local community.
According to family members, Pranav Rai Sai had been suffering from a heart problem since childhood. On the same day, the state government had declared a holiday for colleges on the occasion of Christmas. Despite the holiday, the college went ahead and conducted the slip test. This decision later became a point of strong criticism from students and unions.
Further allegations added to the controversy. Although Pranav’s exam hall was on the ground floor, he was reportedly told that it was upstairs. After going to the upper floor, he was then sent back downstairs because the exam hall was actually located there. Fellow students alleged that the repeated movement between floors caused stress, which they believe led to the heart attack.
Later, student unions demanded action against the college management. They alleged negligence and questioned why the exam was held despite the government-declared holiday. They also raised concerns over the handling of students with known health issues during examinations. The incident has once again highlighted the need for greater care and responsibility in educational institutions, especially during exams involving young students.
