Hyderabad: The Institute of Practical Accountancy (IPA) has announced the IPA Samman Awards 2025 and 2026, recognising distinguished professionals and educators for their outstanding contributions to accounting, taxation, finance, corporate governance and commerce education. The awards will be presented on August 8 at the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) in Hyderabad.
The awards are being organised with the support of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Tax Bar Associations, Hyderabad branches of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the Department of Commerce at Osmania University, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.
IPA Samman Awards recognise excellence in finance and commerce
The award recipients were finalised during a screening meeting held at Osmania University.
The Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 will be conferred posthumously on Late CMA B.V. Ramana Murthy, former President of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. The 2026 Lifetime Achievement Awards will honour Late Veera Reddy, Founder of Sagar Cements Ltd., and Prof. M. Sulochana, retired Professor, Department of Commerce, Osmania University.
The IPA Proficiency Awards will recognise CA S.B. Kabra (2025) and CA Amritkumar Kota (2026) in the Chartered Accountant category, CMA J.S. Anand (2025) and CMA Arunkumar (2026) in the Cost Accountant category, CS Marthis (2025) and CS Vasudev Rao (2026) in the Company Secretary category, Krishna Koundinya (2025) and A.V.S. Krishna Mohan (2026) in the Tax Advocate category, and P.L. Narasimham (2025) and Hussainvali (2026) in the Tax Practitioner category.
The Award for Excellence in Accountancy and Finance will be presented to Dr. CA Ramakanth Tripathi, CEO of Jagapathi Investments Pvt. Ltd., for 2025 and Vasudevan, CEO of Equitas Bank Ltd., for 2026.
The Best Commerce Faculty Awards will honour distinguished educators from universities and colleges across Hyderabad, including Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, Prof. J. Ravi Kumar, Prof. Indrakanti Sekhar, Dr. Sabiha Shareef, Prof. Kastoori Srinivas, Dr. V. Santhoshi, Prof. M.J. Eliat, Dr. S. Jhansi Rani, Mrs. G. Danalaxmi, Dr. L.V. Kamala, Dr. D. Sanjeeva Rao, Dr. Shiny Rajan, Dr. D. Sree Ram Daida, Dr. K. Naveen Kumar and Dr. Rashi Mathur.
A key highlight of this year’s awards is the strong representation of women achievers, particularly in finance, taxation and commerce education. The organisers said the recognition reflects the growing role of women in professions that have traditionally been male dominated.
The awards will be adjudged by an eminent jury comprising Adv. Dwarakanath, Additional Solicitor General of India; Dr. A.S. Durga Prasad, former President of ICMAI; Dr. C.S. Datla Hanumanth Raju, former President of ICSI; Prof. V. Appa Rao, former Dean, Department of Commerce and Management, Osmania University; CMA CA K. Narsimha Murthy, economist; and CA Aparna Surabhi, Chartered Accountant and corporate leader.
Speaking about the initiative, the organisers said the IPA Samman Awards celebrate professionals and educators who uphold the highest standards of ethics, knowledge and public service.
They noted that in the era of Artificial Intelligence, practical accountancy has become even more significant. While AI can automate routine bookkeeping and data processing, human expertise remains essential for financial interpretation, regulatory compliance, professional judgment and client advisory services, making practical accounting skills indispensable.
