Hyderabad, March 24: A large-scale Iran fundraising Kashmir campaign has gained momentum, with people across Srinagar contributing to support war-torn Iran. The initiative has seen wide public participation, including women, children, and local communities.
Kashmiris have actively taken part in the fundraising drive. Women donated cash, gold jewellery, and copper utensils. Meanwhile, several people also contributed livestock. Children, too, stepped forward and donated their savings as well as money received on Eid.
These contributions were collected through melas held in multiple areas of Srinagar. The events took place in Zadibal, Hassinabad, Shalimar, Qamarwari, Lawepora, and Bemina. These gatherings helped mobilise support and encouraged people to donate in large numbers.
In one instance, a woman donated gold in memory of her husband who died 28 years ago. This gesture highlighted the emotional connection many donors felt toward the cause. Meanwhile, similar melas were also organised in Shia–dominated districts such as Budgam, Bandipora, and Baramulla.
The Iranian Embassy in India acknowledged these efforts. It thanked the people of Kashmir and India for their support. The embassy also shared photos of the donations and posted them on Facebook, recognising the widespread participation.
The Iran fundraising Kashmir effort reflects strong community involvement during a time of crisis. People from different backgrounds came together to contribute in various forms. The campaign continues to draw attention due to its scale and the diverse nature of donations.
