- Iran enforces Strait of Hormuz rules on ship movement
- Pakistani ship turned back for lack of prior permission
Hyderabad, March 25: Iran sent back a Pakistani container ship that tried to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without prior permission. The action comes as Iran enforces strict navigation rules in the region amid a tense situation in West Asia.
However, Iranian authorities made it clear that prior approval is now mandatory for any vessel crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The country has introduced these regulations due to the ongoing war atmosphere in the region. Therefore, ships must follow the new rules before entering the strait.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani ship was heading towards Karachi through the Strait of Hormuz. Officials said the vessel did not take the required permission before attempting the passage. As a result, the Islamic Republic of Iran acted and sent the ship back.
Further, the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRGC) stated that all vessels must coordinate with its maritime authority before passing through the strait. It warned that it would intervene if any ship violates the rules. This step aims to ensure strict monitoring of maritime movement in the sensitive zone.
In addition, the Iranian embassy in Kabul confirmed the incident. It said the ship was travelling from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Karachi when Iran intercepted it. The embassy supported the action taken by Iranian authorities.
At the same time, Iran stated that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing war with the United States and Israel. It added that only ships with proper permission would be allowed to pass through the route.
The development highlights the growing tension in the region and the tightening of maritime controls. Iran has indicated that it will strictly enforce its rules in the Strait of Hormuz to maintain control over the vital shipping route.
