Issues of Urdu Journalists Will be Resolved: Kavitha

Hyderabad 6th January (Maxim News): Delegation from Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation met Mrs. K. Kavitha, MLC at her residence in Hyderabad.

The delegation comprising Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin, General Secretary, Habeeb Ali Al Jeelani, Joint Secretary, M. A. Mohsin, Co-convenor Hyderabad City Unit, M. A. K. Faisal Executive Member, and others discussed the long pending issues of Urdu working journalists of Telangana and also presented a memorandum to Kavitha.

The delegation also recalled that Urdu has been declared as the second official language by the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao but the Information and Public Relations department is meting out step-motherly treatment with Urdu Journalists and is being biased in issuing accreditation cards to Urdu journalists. Telugu journalists are being issued accreditation cards at the mandal level but Urdu journalists are deprived of the same.

Media Accreditation Committees are given representations from big, small media, and photographers but no representation is given to Urdu journalists in these committees.

The delegation demanded that accreditation cards be issued at mandal level as was practised earlier; include Urdu journalists in the state and district media accreditation committees; empanel Urdu newspapers; issue orders to the same effect; and also resolve other long pending issues pertaining to Urdu Working Journalists to which Kavitha responded positively and assured to address all the issues mentioned in the memorandum.
