Jagan Orders Cops To Shut Down All Belt Shops By Oct 1
Amaravati, June 25 (Maxim News): As promised during his padayatra, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today asked officials to close down belt shops in the State by October 1.
Speaking to officials on the second day of Collectors’ Conference here on Tuesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said there should be no delay in enforcing good decisions that would benefit the people at large, especially weaker sections. “There should be no sale of liquor alongside national highways. Efforts should be made to see that roadside Dabhas do not sell any alcohol. Hoardings also should be put up highlighting road safety rules”, he exhorted IPS officers.
Jagan also exhorted the officers that before imposing penalties and fines, concrete measures should be taken for raising awareness among people. He asked officials to come up with specific plans to ease traffic woes in Vijayawada. He also instructed police officials to make relentless efforts to curb the cultivation of marijuana, particularly in tribal areas, for which he suggested them to carry out a special operation in August. In lieu of marijuana cultivation, he said, the tribals would be provided with other employment opportunities, he added. (Maxim News)
