Jagtial municipal election | Hyderabad, Jan. 31: Jagtial municipal election nominations concluded on Friday, but political uncertainty continues as parties delay clarity on official candidates, intensifying local political activity.
Across the district, nominations were filed in five municipalities by candidates from major political parties and independents.
However, Jagtial Municipality has emerged as the focal point of attention due to the absence of confirmed party nominees.
Several aspirants have already filed nominations and are awaiting B Forms. Meanwhile, the lack of official communication has triggered widespread discussion in political circles.
Jagtial municipal election sees Congress delay B Forms amid internal dissent
According to the State Election Commission schedule, nomination scrutiny will be held on Saturday. Candidates can withdraw nominations until February 3.
Sources said the Congress leadership is delaying B Form distribution strategically. The move aims to prevent disgruntled aspirants from switching parties before the withdrawal deadline.
Party insiders indicated that B Forms may be issued only on the final day of withdrawal. This approach is intended to retain aspirants within the party fold.
The Congress high command has reportedly entrusted District Congress Committee president Gajangi Nandaiah with overseeing ticket distribution. Decisions are being kept confidential amid strong demand for tickets.
Political tension has increased due to factionalism within the Congress unit. Rival groups aligned with MLA Sanjay Kumar and former minister Jeevan Reddy are competing for influence.
Due to the uncertainty, several aspirants are believed to have prepared alternative plans. Sources said some leaders are in touch with the BJP, while others are considering contesting as independents.
Observers warn that defections or independent candidatures could alter electoral equations in Jagtial municipality. The next two days are expected to be crucial for final alignments.
