Hyderabad, August 6 (Maxim News): Jamiat Ulema Nalgonda has urged the Telangana government to immediately implement the promises made to minorities during the 2023 Assembly elections, warning that continued delays have created growing dissatisfaction within the community.
Addressing a press conference at the Jamiat Ulema district office in Nalgonda, Jamiat Ulema Telangana President Maulana Syed Shah Ehsanuddin Qasmi said the Congress government should honour its commitments on minority welfare, education, employment, and social development without further delay.
He said the government has been in office for a considerable period, yet several key assurances made in the minority election manifesto remain unfulfilled. He stressed that fulfilling electoral promises is essential to maintaining public trust.
Jamiat Seeks Minority Sub Plan and Urdu DSC
The organisation demanded the immediate implementation of the Minority Sub Plan to ensure transparent and effective utilisation of funds earmarked for minority welfare.
Jamiat Ulema also called for the immediate notification of the Urdu DSC and the filling of all vacant Urdu teacher posts in government educational institutions. The organisation said the vacancies have adversely affected Urdu medium students.
The speakers further sought an increase in the monthly honorarium for Imams and Muezzins, proposing ₹12,000 for Imams and ₹10,000 for Muezzins. They also demanded that payments be made on time every month through the Green Channel system.
The organisation urged the government to release all pending minority scholarships, fee reimbursement dues, and other educational assistance to ensure that students do not discontinue their education because of financial constraints.
Jamiat Ulema also appealed for strengthening minority welfare institutions by enhancing budgetary allocations and expanding welfare programmes.
The leaders said the minority community had supported the government with the expectation that its promises would be fulfilled. They warned that if there is no positive response, minority organisations, religious scholars, and community representatives across Telangana would deliberate on their future course of action.
The press conference was attended by district vice presidents Mufti Syed Siddiq Ahmed Mazahiri, Maulana Mohammed Makhdoom, Mohammed Hafeez Khan, General Secretary Maulana Mohammed Akbar Khan, Hafiz Hassanuddin Furqan, office bearers, mandal presidents, and a large number of Jamiat Ulema members.
At the conclusion of the event, Jamiat Ulema district leaders thanked the media and expressed hope that the legitimate concerns of the minority community would be effectively conveyed to the government and the public.
