India-Japan, Sept. 20: Japan Air Self Defence Force Chief General Takehiro Morita flew an Indian Tejas fighter aircraft during Exercise Veer Guardian 2026 in Jodhpur on Sunday.
Indian Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh also flew a Tejas aircraft during the India Japan bilateral air exercise.
The sorties took place at Air Force Station Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The exercise is being conducted from September 9 to 22.
Both air chiefs arrived at the air base and proceeded towards their respective Tejas aircraft before taking off.
Morita flew the Tejas with an Indian pilot. Air Chief Marshal Singh flew another Tejas aircraft during the exercise.
Tejas Sorties Highlight India Japan Defence Cooperation
Exercise Veer Guardian 2026 involves frontline fighter aircraft from both countries.
The Indian Air Force is participating with LCA Tejas, Su 30MKI and Rafale fighter aircraft.
The Japan Air Self Defence Force has deployed its F 2A fighter aircraft for the exercise.
The exercise includes advanced operational missions and professional interactions between personnel from the two air forces.
It also covers mission planning, technical exchanges and discussions on aerospace safety.
The exercise aims to improve operational coordination and strengthen cooperation between the Indian and Japanese air forces.
Morita’s Tejas sortie also highlighted India’s indigenous fighter aircraft during the bilateral exercise.
The participation of the Japanese F 2A aircraft marks its first fighter deployment to India for the exercise.
