Journalist Accreditation Cards: Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy clarifies In Council

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (Maxim News) : Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government has no intention to divide desk and field journalists. He said the main goal is to issue accreditation cards to genuine journalists.

The minister spoke in the Legislative Council during the question hour. He replied to questions raised by opposition members on journalists’ issues. He said the government first issued GO 252 on accreditation. However, it later revised the order after receiving suggestions from journalist unions.

He also said some people are creating unnecessary confusion about the accreditation process. Therefore, the government formed a committee to ensure fair issuance of accreditation cards. He added that the government is ready to issue another circular if more changes are needed. He said the government will not hesitate to make corrections.

Meanwhile, the minister announced that the government will introduce a Digital Media Policy within the next two to three months. He said officials have already prepared a draft. The government will finalise it soon.

The minister also said the government is examining the issue of house sites for journalists. He added that the government is working to distribute house sites without legal hurdles. He recalled that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already spoken clearly about this during Women’s Day celebrations. He said the government will soon share good news on this matter.

He also assured that the government will not step back on the issue of job security for journalists. He said the government remains committed to protecting the welfare of journalists. (Maxim News)
