Jubilee Hills By-Election: 30 Nominations Rejected
Hyderabad, Oct 23 (Maxim News) : Hyderabad District Election Officer RV Karnan clarified that polling for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election will be conducted using EVMs, not ballot papers, and that M3 EVMs will be deployed if the final contest features more than 64 candidates.
He said 211 candidates filed 321 nomination sets for the bypoll, reflecting an unusually high interest in the seat.
Explaining the scrutiny status, the officer said officials rejected 59 nomination sets belonging to 30 candidates due to reasons such as incorrect formats and incomplete details.
Meanwhile, 39 candidates’ nominations were accepted at this stage. He added that scrutiny of the remaining papers is still in progress and more updates will follow once checks are completed in accordance with election rules.
Karnan confirmed that nominations of key contenders have been found in order.
He stated that the papers of BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha and Congress candidate Naveen Yadav have been accepted.
He reiterated that the process remains ongoing and that the next steps will determine how many candidates remain in the fray after the statutory timelines.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 24.
Therefore, the final contesting list will only be known after the withdrawal deadline. Polling for the Jubilee Hills by-election will be held on November 11, and counting will take place on November 14.
Then, officials will publish the conclusive line-up and proceed with constituency-level arrangements for EVM deployment and poll-day operations. (Maxim News)
