Taliban Challenge To Pakistan Army Chief Stirs Tensions

  • TTP commander Qasim’s viral video targets Asim Munir
  • Pakistan announces Rs 100 million reward after Kurram attack

Islamabad/Internet/Hyderabad, Oct 23 (Maxim News): Pakistan faces another major shock as a new video from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has put Army Chief Asim Munir and his top command under intense spotlight. The viral clip shows TTP commander Qasim directly challenging General Munir to fight him “if he is a man,” sparking outrage and alarm across Pakistan’s military and political circles.

The video released by Qasim features strong and provocative language. In the footage, the TTP commander says, “Why is the Pakistani army fighting us? Instead, senior officers of the Pakistani army should come to the battlefield. If Pakistan Army Chief Munir really has the guts, he should fight us. If he really drinks his mother’s milk, he should fight us,” he challenged. His blunt statements quickly spread on social media, igniting widespread reaction and debate.

Meanwhile, the TTP also released separate footage claiming responsibility for an attack in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 8. The group claimed that 22 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the assault. In contrast, the Pakistan Army stated that 11 soldiers lost their lives in the same attack. The TTP also displayed weapons and military vehicles allegedly seized during the operation.

Responding to these escalating threats, the Pakistani government has taken firm action. On October 21, officials announced a reward of 100 million Pakistani rupees for anyone providing information leading to the capture of Commander Qasim. The developments highlight growing tensions between the Pakistani military and the TTP, which continues to operate actively in border regions.

The series of videos has created deep unease within Pakistan’s defense establishment. Analysts suggest that the challenge could further worsen the fragile security situation, as both sides exchange provocative messages. The government’s move to offer a massive bounty underscores the seriousness of its approach toward the renewed militant threat.
