According to the Returning Officer, a total of 211 nominations were initially filed for the by-election, of which 81 were found valid after scrutiny.

Among them, 23 candidates later withdrew their nominations, leaving 58 contenders in the final fray. Election analysts noted that this marks the highest number of candidates ever contesting in Jubilee Hills constituency’s history.

This time, the race is witnessing heightened competition not only among major political parties but also from independents, student leaders, and representatives of farmers’ groups.

Observers say this surge reflects growing local interest and the evolving dynamics of urban political contests in Hyderabad.
