The Congress government, which came to power in the state in December 2023, ordered a vigilance inquiry into the damage to the Medigadda Barrage and the seepage problems in the remaining barrages, as well as a study by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA).  The vigilance submitted a preliminary report that found the flaws to be serious.  Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced during the debate in the Assembly that he would order a judicial inquiry and the government immediately decided to form a commission.

The commission was constituted in March 2024 under the leadership of Justice PC Ghosh, former Chief Justice of the United Andhra pradesh High Court, retired Supreme court judge, and India’s first Lokpal from 2019 to 2022.  It was stated that the report should be submitted by the end of July.  However, Justice Ghosh received the order to constitute the commission in April and began its activities from May.  The government has been extending the deadline of the commission for various reasons, including examining the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages, questioning more people, cross-examination, vigilance and scrutiny of NDSA reports.  Today, Justice PC Ghosh Submitted his report to the government.  (Maxim News)
