Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations at Veerula Sainik Smarak

Secunderabad, 26 Jul 2023: Kargil Vijay Diwas, named after the success of Operation Vijay was celebrated with fervor at Veerula Sainik Smarak on 26 Jul 2023 under the aegis of Headquarters Telangana & Andhra Sub Area. On 26 Jul 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intrudes, “Kargil Vijay Diwas” is celebrated on 26th July every year in honour of the Kargil War’s Heroes.

This year again “Kargil Vijay Diwas” was celebrated on 26 Jul 2023 throughout the nation to commemorate the 24th anniversary of that historic victory achieved on 26 July 1999 with India regaining control of all the previously held territory, hence re-establishing the status quo ante bellum.

As part of the nationwide celebration, a Wreath Laying Ceremony was also organised at Veerula Sainik Smarak, Army Parade Ground, Secunderabad on 26 Jul 2023. The occasion was a spectacular event, with the presence of a Military Band and all the Officers and Soldiers attired in full ceremonial dress adoring glittering medals depicting their various achievements in the service of the Nation while paying the due homage to the Bravehearts, their brethren in Uniform who laid their life in defending the Republic.

The sequence of the event started with a lot of fanfare and Wreath laying by the junior most soldier followed by various other Senior Officers of the Station. Finally, the wreath was laid by Major General Rakesh Manocha, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, HQ Telangana & Andhra Sub Area who also was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
