Kaveri Travels bus fire | Hyderabad, Oct 24: A major tragedy struck early Friday when a Kaveri Travels bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire on National Highway 44 near Chinnatekur village in Kallur mandal, Kurnool district.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m., leaving more than 20 passengers feared dead after the vehicle went up in flames.
Officials confirmed that at least 11 bodies have been recovered so far. Preliminary reports suggest that most of the victims were residents of Hyderabad.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the horrific accident and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
He described the incident as “tragic” and directed senior officials to coordinate with their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh to gather all details regarding the mishap.
As per official sources, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and DGP Shivadhar Reddy briefed the Chief Minister on the situation and ongoing rescue operations.
Over 20 passengers feared dead, CM orders immediate inquiry
Following this, CM Revanth Reddy instructed the Gadwal District Collector and Superintendent of Police to immediately visit the accident site and monitor the relief measures. He also ordered them to provide necessary assistance to the victims’ families.
The Chief Minister further directed the setting up of a helpline to share timely information about the deceased and survivors.
He asked officials to stay in constant contact with Andhra Pradesh authorities to ensure quick coordination in identifying the victims and assisting the injured.
Rescue teams continued their operations at the scene while efforts were underway to identify those who perished in the tragedy.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and forensic experts have been called in for analysis. Meanwhile, the state administration is expected to hold a high-level meeting to review transport safety protocols and emergency response systems to prevent such catastrophic incidents in the future.
