Kavitha asserted that the agitation highlights the government’s failure to address labour issues despite a prolonged protest by thousands of women workers.

A delegation of Shahi Exports workers met Kalvakuntla Kavitha at the Telangana Jagruti office in Banjara Hills. During the interaction, the workers explained their ongoing protest and the difficulties they are facing.

Kavitha assured them of complete support and urged them not to withdraw the agitation until their demands are resolved.

She described the protest by women workers as inspirational and saluted their spirit. Kavitha said it was unacceptable that around 2,500 women have been protesting on the roads for over 15 days without any response from the government.

Kavitha questioned why the Labour Commissioner had not intervened so far.

Government urged to resolve Shahi Exports labour issue

Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded that Labour Minister Vivek take immediate and proactive steps to resolve the issue. She stated that the Shahi Exports protest itself stands as evidence that the government is not paying attention to workers’ concerns.

She insisted that the government must respond without delay.

Kavitha pointed out that there has been no change in wages for nearly nine years, while prices of essential commodities have increased sharply.

She alleged that labour laws are not being implemented properly and that workers are not receiving dearness allowance. According to her, justice is clearly on the side of the women workers, which is why they are continuing their fight.

She warned that if the issue is not resolved within two or three days, Telangana Jagruthi will intensify the agitation along with the women workers.

Kavitha said other labour leaders would also be mobilised to exert pressure on the government to ensure labour laws are enforced.

Highlighting solidarity within the organisation, she said Telangana Jagruthi Working President Roop Singh, who is also a labour leader, would stand with the workers.

Kavitha added that after completing her Kothagudem tour, she would actively take up the issue and fight for a resolution, while expressing hope that the problem would be solved at the earliest. (Maxim News)
