Kavitha Demands Teenmaar Mallanna’s Suspension Over “Outrageous” Remarks

Hyderabad, July 13 (Maxim News): BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly condemned what she described as “outrageous and offensive” comments made by MLC Teenmaar Mallanna, calling for his suspension from the Legislative Council. Addressing the media on Saturday, Kavitha revealed that she has formally lodged a complaint with Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, urging him to use his discretionary powers to suspend Mallanna.

Kavitha also approached the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) with a written complaint, accompanied by a large group of Telangana Jagruthi activists. Tight security was deployed in and around the DGP’s office to manage the situation.

“Deeply Insulting to Women in Public Life”

Speaking to the press after filing her complaint, Kavitha expressed her deep anguish over the derogatory language allegedly used by Mallanna. “Telangana has a culture where women are respected and valued. Our society sees the girl child as a mother. At a time when women are stepping into politics and raising their voices on public issues, such abusive comments from people in responsible positions are discouraging and dangerous,” she said.

Kavitha emphasized that the comments weren’t just personal attacks but an assault on every woman trying to enter public life. “If there are political differences, let us debate the issues. Why resort to foul, degrading language?” she questioned.

“BC Movement Is a People’s Cause”

Kavitha defended the ongoing Backward Classes (BC) movement being led by Telangana Jagruthi, saying they have been organizing programs for over 18 months. “Mallanna never once opposed our efforts or addressed the issue in a democratic manner. His sudden personal attack raises questions,” she said.

She further warned, “If this kind of language is tolerated, it will only silence more women who wish to speak up. Telangana society will not accept such behavior.”

Condemns Firing Incident, Demands Arrest

Referring to the recent vandalism and firing incident at Teenmaar Mallanna’s office—allegedly triggered by his remarks—Kavitha criticized the violence but questioned the disproportionate reaction. “Jagruthi activists were protesting peacefully. Why did Mallanna’s gunman open fire? This is democracy—not a battlefield. Firing on common citizens is unacceptable,” she said.

Calling for immediate action from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Kavitha demanded that Teenmaar Mallanna be arrested. She also announced plans to approach the National Commission for Women over the issue.
