Hyderabad, May 31: Telangana Rakshana Sena chief and former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has clarified the significance of the yellow colour in her party flag, rejecting allegations that it has any connection with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) or its president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking in an interview, Kavitha said the choice of yellow was based on cultural, social and regional sentiments rather than political affiliations. Responding to a question on why yellow was included in the party flag, she said turmeric holds a special place in the lives of people, particularly women and farmers.
Kavitha noted that Nizamabad district is known for turmeric cultivation and that the crop carries deep emotional and economic significance for the region. She said turmeric is associated with prosperity, well being and tradition, making yellow a meaningful symbol for the party.
Kavitha Says Flag Represents All Sections
Explaining the symbolism behind the party flag, Kavitha said yellow represents prosperity and the aspiration for a developed Telangana.
She stated that the green colour in the flag was inspired by the Telangana Jagruthi flag and reflects the interests of farmers and minority communities. According to her, the inclusion of green also signifies the movement’s roots in Telangana Jagruthi and its commitment to agricultural communities.
Kavitha further explained that blue was included to represent workers, Scheduled Castes and the goal of achieving social justice in Telangana. She said the colour symbolises labour, equality and the aspirations of marginalised sections of society.
The Telangana Rakshana Sena leader emphasized that the party flag was designed to reflect the interests of various sections of society and the vision of an inclusive Telangana.
Rejecting claims that she was being guided by Chandrababu Naidu or any other political leader, Kavitha asserted that she is pursuing an independent political path.
“No one is directing me. I am doing politics independently,” she said, dismissing allegations linking the party’s identity or decisions to other political parties.
