Kazipet RMU To Manufacture 200 Intercity Trains

Hyderabad, May 29: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the Centre has entrusted the Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit with the responsibility of manufacturing 200 intercity trains over the next five years.

He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for supporting Telangana’s railway development.

Kishan Reddy shared the update on social media platform X on Friday. He said the Railways assigned the project to the Kazipet RMU after a detailed review.

Kazipet RMU Intercity Trains Project

According to the Union Minister, the new intercity trains will have 20 coaches and modern passenger facilities. The trains will include automatic door closing systems, improved ventilation and enhanced safety features.

He said the trains are mainly planned for routes covering nearly 300 kilometres. In addition, the services will include multiple stops to improve regional connectivity.

Kishan Reddy stated that the intercity trains would operate at speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour. He added that the project would benefit students, employees and patients travelling between towns and cities.

He also said the trains would improve travel convenience for people visiting nearby urban centres for education, healthcare and employment opportunities.

The Kazipet RMU project is expected to strengthen railway manufacturing activity in Telangana and improve regional passenger transport services.
