KCR Acting Like Nawab Of HYD: Chidambaram
Hyderabad, Nov.21 (Maxim News): Former Union minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram today said he has a special place for Telangana State in his heart. He reminded that it was he who made the announcement of formation of separate Telangana State on December 9, 2009. “Telangana will always be a special place in my heart as I was the one who made the statement on the formation of the Telangana State,” he said.
Addressing media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here today, Chidambaram targeted caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and alleged that the latter did not fulfill any of the promises he had made to the people of the State. He also alleged that KCR had turned the budget-surplus Telangana State into a debt ridden during his last four-and-a-half years rule in the State.
Chidambaram called upon the people to vote for the grand alliance candidates and ensure its victory in the elections. Noting that KCR was criticizing BJP, the former Union home and finance minister said it was nothing but extending support to the BJP-led government. He said he thought that KCR would keep all the promises he made to the people of the State after assuming power in Telangana.
Chidambaram said the TRS’ poll promises like three acres land to Dalits, 12% reservations to tribals and Muslims, construction of 22 lakh double bedroom houses to the homeless families of the state, free education from KG to PG were not fulfilled by the CM. He also alleged that KCR was acting as a new nawab of Hyderabad instead of a democratically elected CM of the State. Chidambaram also raised questions about what he 111He said the country was facing a political battle between Congress that had allied with other progressive parties and the BJP on the other. The TRS, Chidambaram alleged, was a proxy for the BJP and urged people to vote for the Congress led alliance in the State.
Chidambaram said as far as a ‘maha ghatbandhan’ of Congress and other parties was concerned, the reality is that such alliances will be formed at the State level as Parliament elections in India, in reality, are practically separate elections in each of the 29 States. “We are trying to unite an India that is secular, open, equal, liberal and progressive while the BJP was trying to divide India on the lines of religion, caste and language,” he fumed.
