Hyderabad, Oct. 2: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao called for peace, brotherhood and democratic struggles on Gandhi Jayanti.
Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary on Friday, KCR said peaceful and democratic movements were essential for achieving social change. He also urged people to reject divisive politics and promote unity.
KCR Highlights Gandhi’s Ideals of Peaceful Struggle
KCR said Gandhi’s principles of Satyagraha had inspired him during the Telangana statehood movement. He added that the Mahatma’s approach to peaceful struggle remained relevant to younger generations.
He said Gandhi’s life offered lessons for leaders pursuing legitimate public demands. KCR called for unity among oppressed sections and peaceful movements to achieve social change.
Recalling his role in the Telangana movement, KCR said Gandhi’s ideals had guided him through several challenges. He stressed the need to avoid hateful speeches and vindictive attitudes.
He said promoting peace and brotherhood through governance would be a true tribute to Gandhi.
Meanwhile, BRS working president K T Rama Rao also paid tribute to the Mahatma. He said Gandhi had demonstrated how truth, non-violence and perseverance could bring about change.
KTR said these principles reflected the spirit of the movement that led to Telangana’s formation. He urged people to draw inspiration from Gandhi’s commitment to truth, peace and justice.
BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao also paid tribute to Gandhi. He said the Mahatma’s ideals of peace, non-violence and Satyagraha continued to inspire generations.
Harish Rao highlighted the importance of courage and compassion. He expressed hope that Gandhi’s teachings would continue to guide people towards a better world.
