Venkateshwarlu said that he could not say anything now because there was water in the barrage. After the water recedes, the accident will be investigated and the full details will be given. At the time of the accident, there was 10 TMC of water stored in the barrage, he said.  to reduce the severity of the accident, the gates near the 20th pillar were closed and water was released downstream from the other gates, ENC Venkateswarlu said.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy said that the Kaleshwaram project was an utter flop. He asked how many TMCs were given in five years. He alleged that the project was built to steal people’s wealth.
