KCR | Hyderabad, December 5: Congress MP & former TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned the TRS Government for misusing local police to implicate Congress party workers in false cases.
He was speaking to media persons after visiting Suryapet Jail on Monday to meet Sampeta Ravi Goud, a BC leader & ex-Sarpanch, who has been framed in a false case by the Kodad Police. He promised legal help to Ravi Goud and assured total support to him and his family members. He also spoke to all the undertrial prisoners in jail and inquired about the prison conditions. He also distributed fruits and food items among them.
KCR misusing police
“It is highly ridiculous that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is crying hoarse over BJP Govt misusing Central agencies like ED, CBI and Income Tax against the TRS leaders when he is misusing the local police to target opposition Congress leaders and workers. Thousands of Congress workers have been implicated in false cases in the last eight years and local police personnel were being forced to act as TRS functionaries across Telangana State,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that CM KCR has imposed an unwritten law which forces Congress workers to decide between wearing a TRS Khandwa or a handcuff. He said Congress workers, who refused to join TRS, were being harassed by the local police in multiple ways. CM KCR is not only targeting Congress activists but also their businesses and family members. “CM KCR is behaving like a dictator by treating the entire Telangana as his jagir (fiefdom),” he alleged.
The Congress MP praised the Congress workers who did not change their loyalties despite facing severe harassment by the ruling TRS. “Thousands of Congress workers have been huge sacrifices by raising their voices of dissent against the anti-people and anti-democratic policies of TRS Govt. Their contribution and sacrifices will be duly rewarded by the people who would throw TRS out of power in the next elections,” he said.
“KCR has been strangling democracy and all its institutions since 2014. He dismantled all four pillars of democracy systematically ever since he came to power. He engineered defections of 61 elected representatives including 4 MPs, 39 MLAs, 18 MLCs and hundreds of ZPTCs, MPTCs, Councillors, Corporators and Sarpanches. By making public representatives elected on Congress ticket defect to TRS, he insulted the Legislature and the very process of elections. He transformed the Telangana Assembly and Council into a non-entity. He reduced the importance of the Executive.
He tried to interfere in the judiciary and made objectionable remarks against the High Court judges on multiple occasions. Telangana is probably the only State in the country with many senior IAS officers facing the highest number of contempt cases for not implementing court orders. KCR also suppressed media and abused and threatened reporters in live press conferences when they raised questions,” he alleged.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said CM KCR did not speak about democracy when he purchased 12 out of 21 MLAs to deprive Congress of main opposition party status in the Assembly. Now when BJP is trying to purchase TRS MLAs, he is crying hoarse and trying to act like a victim, he said adding that KCR should’ve anticipated that he would be made to taste his own medicine.
The Congress MP said that both TRS and BJP have caused huge damage to democracy and dismantled all democratic institutions. “Congress leaders and workers will continue their struggle to restore democracy in Telangana. We will not get intimidated by the illegal tactics of TRS. All police officials who are now behaving like TRS activists will face action once Congress returns to power in the next elections,” he warned. (Maxim News)
