KCR was in tears several occasions looking at pathetic condition of weavers : KTR

Hyderabad, Oct.21 (NSS): Minister for Handlooms and Textiles KT Rama Rao said that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was in tears several occasions looking at the pathetic economic condition of weavers and their suicides in the combined Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at the Padmashali Aathmeeya Sammelanam at Manneguda in Ibrahimpatnam Assembly constituency on Friday, the Minister said KCR was brought up in a Padmashali community (Weaver) family in Dubbaka of Medak district and had closely observed the lives of weavers.

As KCR has aware of the problems of weavers, the TRS government has increased the budget from Rs.70 crore to Rs. 1200 crore for the development of weavers and has sofar spent Rs. 5752 crores for their welfare since the formation of Telangana State,” KTR said.

He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of withdrawing all welfare schemes regarding the weavers’ community and stopping the allocation of budget.

“Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister to levy GST on handlooms in the history of Independence India. Now, weavers are leading vulnerable life with Modi’s anti-weaver policies,” KTR alleged.

Stating that the State government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has launched various schemes for the welfare of weavers, KTR said under the Nethanna ku Cheyutha scheme, over 26,000 weavers got benefitted during the Carona pandemic period.

He appealed to the weavers to extend their support to the TRS government in the ensuing Munugodu by-election and teach a fitting lesson to the BJP. (NSS)
