KCR will be remembered as a ‘highly inaccessible’ CM in the country: Congress

Hyderabad, March 5: The Congress party has criticized Telangana’s Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), accusing him of being inaccessible to the public and elected representatives for over eight years.

“KCR will be remembered in history for never interacting with the common people or even the elected representatives like MLAs and MPs. He never visited the old Secretariat and later got it demolished. He postponed the inauguration of the new Secretariat to skip meeting people during the present term. As BRS is all set to lose the next Assembly elections, he will have the record of never meeting the people despite being the Chief Minister for two terms,” AICC Implementation Committee Chairman A. Maheshwar Reddy said while interacting with media persons on the sidelines of ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ Telangana Poru Yatra in Nirmal which entered 3rd day on Sunday.

The Yatra has been gaining significant attention from locals, with Maheshwar Reddy addressing the concerns and grievances of people who feel neglected by the current administration.

During the Yatra, Maheshwar Reddy interacted with the locals and gained an understanding of their problems. One of the women who spoke to him expressed her gratitude and admiration for his past efforts, saying that during his time as an Assembly member, he had been there for the people in their times of joy and sorrow. However, she lamented that the present MLA or other leaders of the ruling BRS never meet them leaving the community without any support. The woman implored Maheshwar Reddy to continue supporting the community and to help them achieve success. She thanked him profusely for his dedication and hard work.

Maheshwar Reddy also alleged that the ruling BRS MLAs and ministers were imitating their boss, KCR, in avoiding common people. “KCR never gave appointment to any MLA, MLC, MP, or other elected representative. His camp office-cum-official residence Pragathi Bhavan is not only a palatial bungalow but literally a fort where visitors can enter only by invitation,” he said, adding that contractors and brokers had unrestricted access to the building. Maheshwar Reddy challenged the Chief Minister to make the list of Pragathi Bhavan’s visitors public to refute his claims.

The Congress leader said that the Telangana Poru Yatra has been receiving tremendous response from all sections of society. “We’ve received hundreds of petitions in the last three days from jobless youth, homeless families and others complaining that they were unable to meet the local BRS MLAs or ministers to express their grievances. They’ve submitted the petitions with the confidence that their problems will be solved only if Congress returns to power in the next elections,” he said.

On the 3rd day of the Telangana Poru Yatra, Maheshwar Reddy along with former Deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha and other senior leaders conducted padayatra in the Laxman Chanda Mandal and later addressed a corner meeting near Mahatma Gandhi Statue.

Speaking on the occasion Damodar Raja Narasimha said that the main intention of the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ yatra was to convey the message AICC leader Rahul Gandhi gave through Bharat Jodo Yatra to every household. He said that the BRS and BJP were pursuing divisive politics to divide society on the basis of religion, caste, class, language, and region. The Congress party wants to unite all sections of society to achieve collective growth and prosperity. He said that the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and now the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ have been successful in creating awareness among the people against the divisive forces.

Damodar Raja Narasimha said that the Congress party empowered the common people, especially the oppressed classes, by bringing in effective legislation. He cited the example of the previous Congress-led UPA Govt introducing laws such as the Right to Education, Right to Information, Food Security Act, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, and other laws that empowered people.

In contrast, he said that the BJP Govt brought laws that empower the corporate sector and hurt the interests of common people like the controversial farm laws.

Similarly, he said that the previous Congress Govt in undivided Andhra Pradesh introduced SC ST Sub-Plan, also known as Indiramma Kalalu, to give a financial commitment to the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. However, he said BRS Govt brought laws like the Private Universities Act to help the corporate sector.

Damodar Rajanarasimha said that the Congress party, through the ongoing Telangana Poru Yatra would expose the failures of the BJP and BRS Governments while highlighting the achievements of the previous Congress Government. He expressed confidence that the Congress party would win the next Assembly elections in Telangana. (Maxim News)
