Key Development In Bangladesh Politics: Yunus Government Bans Awami League Party

Dhaka/Internet/Hyderabad, Dec 25 (Maxim News) A key development has taken place in Bangladesh politics. With elections due in a month, the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has taken a key decision. It has banned the Awami League Party led by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country after a public outcry. With the government’s decision, the Awami League Party has lost the opportunity to contest the elections to be held in February next year. The government made this announcement as Tarique Rahman, the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and interim chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, returned to his homeland after almost 17 years.

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s son and interim chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Tarique Rahman, has finally returned home. He arrived in Dhaka today after almost 17 years. On this occasion, Rahman and his family members were given a grand welcome by supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party at the Dhaka airport. It is known that elections will be held in Bangladesh in February next year. Tarique is in the front row in the race for the prime minister in these elections. (Maxim News)
