Kishan Reddy Clarifies On Employment Guarantee Scheme Name Change

Hyderabad, Jan 12 (Maxim News)Union Minister for Coal and Mines Kishan Reddy has commented that some people are deliberately spreading false propaganda against the BJP, saying that the Employment Guarantee Scheme has been withdrawn.

Speaking to the media on Monday, he alleged that many irregularities had taken place in the Employment Guarantee Scheme in the past. He criticized that if holes were dug in one place one year, they would dig in the same area the next year. Kishan Reddy clarified that many changes and reforms are being made in the country. The name of the Employment Guarantee Scheme has been changed in line with the changes.

Kishan Reddy said that the MNREGA scheme will now continue under the name of Vikasit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Grameen (VB-G Ram Ji). He revealed that it has been decided to construct godowns through VB-G Ram Ji.

The minister also explained that it will be linked to the agriculture sector. He said that steps will be taken to ensure that compensation is provided even in situations where work cannot be provided. ‘This is not just a scheme to dig holes… it is a scheme to develop the country,’ the Union Minister emphasized.

The minister said that the implementation powers have been given to the gram panchayats and the working days have been increased from 100 to 125. He explained that additional funds are being provided to the states. Kishan Reddy promised that employment guarantee cards will also be given to the disabled and the elderly. (Maxim News)
