Earlier, the Ministry of Mines carried out a consultative exercise to gather inputs. A concept note was shared in January 2026 with DMF states, 306 DMF districts in ADP and ABP areas, and NITI Aayog. Later, a virtual national consultation was held, followed by another round in February. States also conducted internal discussions and submitted key inputs, including challenges and recommendations.

Based on these inputs, the ministry prepared a comprehensive final note. This document will guide the summit discussions. The summit will also cover governance, transparency, convergence, impact assessment, and performance. Presentations by state representatives, NITI Aayog, and BiSAG-N will take place, followed by discussions.

Additionally, a DMF exhibition will be held alongside the summit. It will showcase successful projects funded through DMF resources. These projects will cover sectors such as health, nutrition, water supply, education, skill development, livelihoods, renewable energy, and infrastructure. The exhibition will highlight the role of DMF funds in supporting development in mining-affected areas.

The National DMF Summit 2026 is expected to help build consensus on reform priorities. It will also aim to strengthen convergence with national development programmes and improve fund utilisation for inclusive growth.
