Hyderabad, August 24: Cyberabad authorities have intensified action against illegal buildings after an unauthorised structure collapsed in Gachibowli’s Anjaiah Nagar.
The collapse killed two workers and raised fresh concerns over construction safety and enforcement.
Following the incident, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Srijana ordered officials to identify illegal structures across the corporation limits.
She directed town planning and enforcement teams to act on unauthorised constructions on a priority basis.
Officials must conduct field inspections and identify buildings that violate municipal rules.
The Commissioner specifically ordered action against buildings exceeding seven metres in height on plots measuring less than 75 square yards.
She also ordered immediate demolition of constructions on plots above 75 square yards where builders have not obtained required municipal permissions.
Srijana said officials must conduct inspections despite their other routine responsibilities. She stressed that field teams must identify violations and initiate enforcement action without delay.
The instructions follow growing scrutiny of unauthorised construction in the Cyberabad region.
The Gachibowli building collapse has also increased pressure on civic authorities to detect unsafe structures before they cause casualties.
Cyberabad Illegal Buildings Face Strict Enforcement
The Commissioner also warned officials against ignoring complaints from residents. She directed them to respond to complaints received through Prajavani and the My Cure app.
Officials who fail to act on such complaints could face disciplinary action, she warned. The administration will also examine allegations of corruption linked to illegal construction.
Srijana said officials who support unauthorised builders or accept bribes would face strict action. She warned that authorities could suspend employees if investigations establish corruption or misconduct.
The Commissioner also ordered daily monitoring of demolition operations. This measure aims to ensure that enforcement teams continue action against identified violations.
Builders and construction owners who violate municipal rules could also face criminal cases. The Commissioner made it clear that enforcement will not remain limited to demolition notices.
The latest directive places greater responsibility on town planning and enforcement officials. They must identify violations on the ground and take action within the applicable legal framework.
Illegal construction can create several risks in densely populated areas. Structures built without proper approvals may fail to meet requirements related to structural safety, setbacks, access and other municipal norms.
