Hyderabad, Oct. 1 (Maxim News): Union Minister and BJP leader G Kishan Reddy criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks contrasting Lord Shiva and Lord Ram, accusing him of creating divisions among people in the name of religion.
Speaking to the media in Delhi, Kishan Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was bringing religious issues and Hindu deities into political discourse. He said Revanth Reddy’s remarks could create divisions within Hindu society.
Revanth Reddy had recently said that Lord Shiva was associated with the poor while Lord Ram was associated with the rich. He also contrasted the religious identities associated with north and south India while criticising the BJP’s use of the “Jai Shri Ram” slogan.
Kishan Reddy Questions Revanth Reddy’s Remarks
Kishan Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was raising new issues instead of focusing on promises made to people during the elections.
He also accused the Congress of having a history of dividing people along religious and other lines. Kishan Reddy questioned why the Chief Minister was making comments about Hindu deities and challenged him to speak similarly about deities of other religions.
The BJP leader further alleged that the remarks amounted to an insult to Hindu society and could lead to disagreements between devotees of Lord Shiva and Lord Ram.
The comments have triggered a political exchange between the BJP and Congress. BJP leaders have criticised Revanth Reddy’s remarks, while TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud defended the Chief Minister and said both Lord Ram and Lord Shiva are revered.
The controversy comes amid a broader political debate over the use of religious and regional identities in political discourse. Revanth Reddy’s original remarks and the subsequent reactions from BJP and Congress leaders have added to the ongoing political confrontation between the two parties. (Maxim News)
