Hyderabad, May 20 (Maxim News): In a surprising development, Congress Party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy heaped praises on his party rival and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking steps to prevent the spread of deadly corona virus in the country.
He said that the PM Had not only taken effective steps to prevent the virus in the country but also helped other countries in their fight against the virus. He also thanked Modi for announcing a massive ₹20 lakh crore economic stimulus package. Reddy wrote a letter to the PM on the issue to the PM. In his letter, He also brought the issue of problems faced by weavers and handicraft workers of the state due to the ongoing lockdown . He said that according to 2019 statistics , a total of 31.45 lakh families comprising of 45 lakh people were dependent on the handicraft profession.
He urged the PM to sanction funds to the sector and help the families. He told the PM that most of the families of the weavers and the handicraft workers were very poor and added that 67 percent of these families earn less than ₹5,000 per month and 26.2 percent less than ₹10000 per month. He said that the livelihood of the workers was stalled due to the ongoing lockdown as it suspended the exports of their products. He urged the PM to announce a special package to the workers and prevent them from hunger pangs. He urged the PM to give ₹3000 for three months and ration from civil supplies department of the state. He also urged the PM to give sarees and dhothi to 23 crore BPL families of the country by handing over the contract to the handicraft workers. (Maxim News)
