Hyderabad, April 18 (Maxim News): Addressing CII Telangana Industry members over video conference, MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao said government is making efforts to contain & flatten the COVID pandemic curve. The State is well prepared with sufficient quantities of PPEs, Masks, testing kits and ventilators. But citizens need to be careful to maintain personal hygiene and stay indoors to contain the spread.
With the renewed focus on Healthcare, Medical Infrastructure and Biotech industries, he requested members to explore opportunities in these sectors. Every adversity presents an opportunity and we must strategise and come up with new ideas, he said.
Responding to the members queries, on the economic revival, Minister said that 25% of the economy is still working and post lock down, the economic growth may happen in spurts.
Even after the lock down is lifted, one of the biggest challenges for industry will be to build the confidence of the workforce to return & feel safe. Social distancing will be the new norm, he said and Industries have to make changes in the way they operate.
Members requested the government’s support for the industry especially the MSME sector, to mitigate the adversities faced by them due to the lock down.
Minister mentioned that the government is committed to the industry in the state and will extend all possible support.
He urged the industry not to layoff any employees, if required they may go for austerity measures to overcome this phase. He also requested CII to work on a Vision document on new business opportunities and investments in post COVID era.
KTR requested Industry to support the Government with Critical medical infrastructure through their CSR funds . (Maxim News)
