Hyderabad, May 25: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao challenged the Congress government to show even a single Indiramma house constructed for the poor in Hyderabad and declared that he would take political retirement if such a house was identified.
Addressing a meeting in Kukatpally on Sunday, KTR said the poor lived comfortably during the ten year rule of K. Chandrashekar Rao.
He stated that the previous BRS government regularised houses built by poor families on government lands through GO 58 and GO 59 and provided pattas to nearly 2.5 lakh beneficiaries.
KTR Criticises House Demolitions In Hyderabad
KTR alleged that the Congress government failed to construct houses for the poor in Hyderabad during the last two and a half years.
He criticised the government over demolitions carried out under what he described as “Indiramma Rajyam”.
The BRS leader referred to the case of a woman identified as Buchamma in Kukatpally and alleged that officials pasted demolition notices on her house.
According to KTR, the woman died by suicide out of fear that her house would be demolished.
He further alleged that while no new houses were constructed for the poor, thousands of houses were demolished in Hyderabad.
KTR accused the government of targeting poor families in the name of development and called on party workers to continue raising public issues.
