KTR Inaugurates Full Fledged 100 Bed COVID Care Centre Equipped with 6 ICU Beds
Hyderabad, May 26 (Maxim News): KT Rama Rao Minister for IT, Industries, MA&UD inaugurated full fledged 100 bed Covid Care Centre equipped with 6 Bedded Bridge ICU Facility of Project Ashray at Madhapur in the city today.
Project Ashray is a Medical Covid Care Centre opened on May 3 exclusively for Early-Stage Covid Patients. Initially it was a 50 bedded facility and subsequently scaled up to 100 beds. Now KT Rama Rao inaugurated the Bridge ICU Facility and upgraded 100 bed covid care facility.
Speaking on the occasion immediately after it was inaugurated KT Rama Rao appreciated Cyberabad Police, SCSC, a unique collaborative body between IT Industry Police and the Government and the United Way of Hyderabad, an International Network of local non profit fundraising affiliates, Hysea, Nasscom, TiE, Grace Cancer Foundation for all their efforts.
United Way of Hyderabad mobilised medical supplies worth Rs 80 crore through IT industry during the first wave last year. Now again in this second wave it is supporting by way of mobilising funds for 100 bedded Project Ashray. This facility is meant for Covid patients of mild to moderate symptoms. All the facilities are provided free of of cost. I am happy to inaugurate the upgraded 100 bed Covid Care Centre with full fledged 6 bedded Bridge ICU facility.
Currently 38 patients are undergoing the treatment here. The Treatment, Stay and feed etc is provided free. It has two buildings. The facility is scalable to 150 beds KTR said.
He further stated that, Covid devastated the whole world. We must fight it collectively. It is our collective battle. We must stand united in this battle and fight it together to win it over the Minister said. We discussed Just before this inauguration how we can put our concerted efforts to challenge it KTR informed.
Replying to a question, the Minister said our first priority now is how to increase vaccination drive. He also stated that Govt has called for supply of 1 crore vaccine dosages. The Telangana Government is pursuing the matter with the Union Government.
He further said, Hyderabad is the Vaccine Capital of the World. It is a manufacturing hub of vaccines. Unfortunately we don’t have sufficient vaccines to inoculate our people. The Telangana Govt has the capability to vaccinate 1 million vaccines a day and vaccinate entire state in 45 days, KT Rama Rao, informed to the select few gathering. The demand for vaccines is more and the supply is negate, he said.
We have appealed the Government of India to allow us to source vaccines directly from the manufacturers. Punjab and seven other states have also made a similar request. But, you all know it is being controlled by the Government of India, he said.
Speaking further on it the IT minister said, we have a very peculiar situation. In countries like the USA, Denmark, Canada and other countries, the vaccines are lying idle unused. On the other side we are in dire need of them. I request Government of India to step up and and help us and states in this matter.
Government of India and the state governments must work in sync to inoculate people and secure them from the Covid. And also gear up for the next and future waves of any.
Giving his opening remarks, Ramesh Kaza of United Way of Hyderabad said, the Project Ashray is no way different from regular hospitals. The industry associations have come together to setup this facility in a record time of five days. We must discourage patients going straight from home to ICU. We must prevent their explosive to radiation.
The bridge ICU many not be comparable to ICUs in full fledged hospitals, but this will help our patients being shifted to the hospitals. This is the project of collective effort he said.
Project Ashray is co-anchored by Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and United Way of Hyderabad. United Way of Hyderabad is the charity partner and handling funding through CSR contributions from corporates. This center is set up in collaboration with HYSEA, NASSCOM, TiE-Hyderabad, T-SIG, AMCHAM, Grace Cancer Foundation.
